When adventure calls, start your journey by renting a camper van in Linz Hörsching and discover the beauty of Upper Austria. Linz is set along the scenic Danube River, surrounded by rolling hills, lush forests, and charming towns. Families will love visiting the popular Ars Electronica Center, with its interactive exhibits, or the nearby Tiergarten Linz zoo. Whether you’re planning a road trip for hiking, cultural sightseeing, or a family getaway, we have the best tips to make your holiday in and around Linz unforgettable.
U.S. citizens do not need a visa for short tourist visits to Austria. Here’s what you should know before your trip:
You don’t need to worry about parking in Linz — you can park in regular parking spots. As a general rule, motorhomes up to 7.5 tons are allowed to park in residential areas without time restrictions, as long as sidewalks aren’t blocked. Since all of our roadsurfer campers weigh under 3.5 tons, you won’t have to worry about this at all.
Even though there are parking options within the city, we still recommend using public transportation. Linz has an excellent bus and train system, and with the Linz Card, you can visit many museums and exhibitions for free or at a discount — plus ride for free throughout the entire central zone. It’s a relaxing way to explore the city while leaving your camper at the campground.
The nearest service station is the Marchtrenk motorhome parking area. There, you can empty your gray and black water tanks free of charge. The address is: Badgasse 4, 4614 Marchtrenk.
Please always return your camper or motorhome with a full tank after your trip (both diesel and AdBlue). You can refill both at the following nearby stations:
Note: The AdBlue station information provided is for general guidance only and is not guaranteed. Customers are responsible for independently verifying the accuracy of the information, as roadsurfer assumes no liability for its correctness or timeliness.
It’s often said that Linz is especially beautiful from May to September, when the city enjoys the most sunshine and pleasant temperatures. But it’s not just the weather that makes Linz an unforgettable travel destination — the city hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year that bring it to life and make your visit truly special.
In spring, the Urfahr Spring Fair draws crowds with its traditional folk festival atmosphere, thrilling rides, and classic fairground snacks. Summer heats up with the Bubbly Days, transforming the industrial harbor into a hotspot for trend and extreme sports, plus live music. You’ll also find tons of open-air events — from comedy shows to concerts. Fall has its own charm: the Urfahr Fair returns, and the Ars Electronica Festival — the world’s largest stage for media art — brings together art and technology. The Linzer Klangwolke in the Danube Park, a spectacular blend of music and artistic performance, also attracts thousands every year. In winter, it’s time to cozy up with a hot cocoa or mulled wine at the Linz Christmas Market. One visit to the festive stalls and you’ll definitely be in the holiday spirit.
In short: no matter what time of year you visit Linz, the city offers one highlight after another — and with a roadsurfer camper, you’re ready for any kind of weather.
