Plan your road trip from the “Pink City” and discover the culture and beauty of the Occitanie and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. The charming sights of Toulouse, delicious local cuisine, and mild Mediterranean climate make it the dream travel destination. Here are our tips to help you prepare for your camping vacation:
U.S. citizens do not need a visa for short tourist visits to France. Here’s what you should know if you’re planning to travel:
You’re most likely going to find parking in Toulouse on the road. There is paid street parking from Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., except on Sundays, public holidays, and between August 1-15. You may have to be patient, but this is one of the best solutions, as most of the parking garages in the city center are limited to vehicles with a max height of under 6 feet. There are exceptions like the “Saint-Cyprien/Roguet” parking lot where vehicles up to 6.5 feet tall are allowed.
If you want to explore Toulouse, we recommend renting a compact camper van to get around the winding streets of the city. Another possibility is to leave your camper at the urban campground “Le Rupé” and start your day of sightseeing from there.
Before you return your roadsurfer camper van, you can refill with diesel and AdBlue at a local gas station near our location here:

When you need to fill up with fresh water or dispose of gray water, you can visit the following motorhome service station near our location, which is a 20-minute drive.
Toulouse is a wonderful travel destination because you can visit during any season, although July and August are the hottest months. September and October are a particularly beautiful time to rent a camper van in Toulouse, when fall gives the pink city and Garonne River a magical vibe! May and June are also good months to visit and taste a local cassoulet in the Place du Capitole or see a rugby game at the Ernest Wallon stadium. If you love nature, you’ll find the incredible Pyrenees mountains nearby with plenty of hiking opportunities!
