Getting to the station

From W.A. Mozart Airport (SYG): Take Bus 10 (direction “Salzburg Lankessiedlung”) to Salzburg Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz station. Transfer to Bus 21 (Direction “Bergheim S-Bahn”). Get off at Salzburg Gnigler Straße. From there, it’s a 2-minute walk.

From Salzburg Train Station (Hauptbahnhof): Take Bus 22 (Direction “Salzburg Lastenstraße”). Ride for two stops until Salzburg Lastenstraße. From there, it’s a 7-minute walk.

Directions for Arriving by Car: The entrance is located at the back of the station. Therefore, you’ll need to drive past the entrance shown on Google and instead turn into Mitterhofstraße. Then, take a right onto Bergerbräuhofstraße and another right between WIFI and STANDout. You’ll see our vans when you take a left at the end of this street.

Best time of year to visit Salzburg

The best time to rent a motorhome in Salzburg depends entirely on your travel preferences. Basically, you can visit Salzburg at any time of year, even in winter. Salzburg is known for its beautiful Christmas markets and winter events, such as the New Year’s Eve concerts on Residenzplatz, the Mozart Week, and the Perchten runs. The region around Salzburg also offers a picturesque winter landscape with mountains and ski resorts that are ideal for winter activities such as hiking or skiing. However, you should bear in mind that not all campsites are open in the winter months from December to February.

If you prefer a classic summer road trip, you should rent a camper in Salzburg from June to August. The summer months are perfect if you want to experience the lively atmosphere of the city and its summer events, such as the Summer Scene in June and the Salzburg Festival in July and August. With summer temperatures, you can enjoy long days in the countryside at this time and explore the beautiful lakes in the Salzburg region, such as Wolfgangsee, Fuschlsee, Mondsee, Salzachsee, and Zeller See.

Spring from March to May and fall from September to November are also ideal for a road trip from Salzburg. Parking in Salzburg

If you rent a camper van in Salzburg and want to visit the city before you set off on your road trip, you can park your camper van in or outside the city center. Here are some options:

Parking garages in the city center: Salzburg has several parking garages in the city center, such as the Parkhaus Altstadtgarage, the Parkgarage Linzergasse, and the Parkgarage Kajetanerplatz. You can park here with our smaller camper vans, but you should be aware of the height restrictions for motorhomes.

Parking lots outside the city center: There are parking lots just outside the city center that are better suited for motorhomes, such as the parking lot at the Salzburg exhibition grounds (Messezentrum Salzburg).

P+R parking lots: Park-and-ride parking lots are also a good option, as you can easily take public transit to the city center from here. You can use the following P+R parking lots:

  • P+R Salzburg Süd (Alpenstraße): This parking lot is located south of the city center on Alpenstraße. From here, you can use bus lines 1, 2, 3, 5, and 25 to get to the city center.
  • P+R Salzburg Nord (Rif): The Salzburg Nord P+R parking lot is located in the Rif district, and from here, you can take bus lines 20, 21, and 120 to the city center.
  • P+R Messezentrum Salzburg: This P+R parking lot is located near the Messezentrum Salzburg. From here, you can take bus lines 1 and 8 to the city center.
  • P+R Salzburg Aiglhof: The P+R Aiglhof is located in the Aigen district. Bus line 7 connects this parking lot with the city center.
  • P+R Salzburg Kasern: The Kasern P+R parking lot is located to the west of the city center. Bus lines 6, 7, and 8 take you from here to the city center.
