If you want to know the best time to rent a camper van in Stockholm, then you’ll have to decide what you want from your trip. Are you looking for a winter wonderland or do you want to experience midsummer revelry? Springtime has the least rain and beautiful blossoms in the city’s parks, while in the fall, the foliage turns yellow and red, mirroring many of the city’s buildings. As with many destinations, spring is probably the best time of year to visit Stockholm, when the winter chill dissipates, but before the crowds of summer arrive. However, many visitors say that June and August are the months when the city feels most alive, although it should be noted that many locals leave for their summer cottages for most of July.
When you rent a camper van in Stockholm, you’ll need to fill it up with fresh water at the beginning of your trip and empty the grey water at the end.
It’s possible to fill up fresh water at gas stations with self-wash points in Sweden. However, we advise that you use a spare water bottle to collect the fresh water due to possible contamination from the hose.
Unlike other European countries, there are fewer roadside points with facilities to empty black water, so it may be best to drain your wastewater at your campground at the end of your adventure.
Before you return your roadsurfer camper van, you can refill with diesel and AdBlue at one of these convenient gas stations near our location here:

Public transportation is great in Stockholm, so the easiest way to park and explore the city is to find a train station near your campground with a parking area, and then take the train into the city. If you prefer driving into the city and parking in the center, you have the following parking options:

The fees depend on the time and date. The same happens at the Motala and Sundsvall bridges. EPASS24 takes care of the billing. The exception is the Oresund Bridge, where you can pay directly before crossing. The best solution for the electronic fees is to create an EPASS24 account at the start of your journey so that you can make automatic payments. Important: When creating the EPASS24 account, click on “Rental” and carefully enter your travel time with your roadsurfer. We are not responsible if you incur additional costs due to a subsequent driver.
