Renting an RV in Bergamo for the first time or new to camping? Below you’ll find all the information you need for your road trip from Bergamo.
Our roadsurfer camper vans and motorhomes are equipped with everything you may need or want on your Bergamo road trip. Enjoy a seamless driving experience with built-in navigation, relax and unwind on a big and comfortable bed, and make use of a fully stocked kitchen box that includes a pot and pan, tableware, glasses, utensils, mugs, and a French press for your coffee, allowing you to prepare your favorite meals. Additionally, we provide an outdoor table and camping chairs so you can enjoy your time outside. The only thing you need to bring is a comforter or sleeping bag and your sense of adventure. You can also reserve a comforter when you book your camper van in Bergamo, along with many other items that you can find on our equipment list.
The best times for RV rental in Bergamo are undoubtedly when the heat is not yet scorching, and the city is not overrun by tourists. Between May and June, temperatures are pleasant, and on clear days, you can even spot Milan Cathedral in the distance. Early autumn is also a great time to visit Bergamo: the surrounding nature is transformed into a riot of colors and offers the perfect setting for a hike or bike ride.
If you enjoy city festivals, three weeks before Easter is the Festa di Mezza Laresima, during which a parade of floats of all kinds moves through the streets of the lower city. For food and wine lovers, the St. Alexander’s Fair in late August celebrates the city’s patron saint. The event, dedicated entirely to the world of agriculture, is a great place to participate in tastings and exhibitions.
You’ll want to fill up the fresh water tank of your camper van or RV rental at the beginning of your trip, so that you can use the tap, shower and toilet. Please also empty your grey water tank before returning your camper van. The best place to do this is at your campground, if they offer these services, or at certain gas stations and service areas. Each camper van has a collapsible canister that can be used if there is no hose available.
Before you return your roadsurfer camper van, you can refill with diesel and AdBlue at one of these convenient gas stations near our location here:

If you want to visit the city before you hit the open roads, finding parking in Bergamo Alta could prove to be a real challenge. As in almost all Italian historic centers, most of the streets are in ZTL, where you cannot transit unless you have a special permit. We therefore advise you to leave your motorhome rental in the lower town and continue to the center on foot or by public transportation (bus line 1).
The best solution is the Malpensata parking lot, on Via San Giovanni Bosco. This is a paid parking lot, but more convenient than those closer to the Upper Town (and on Sundays parking is free). It is about a half-hour walk to the city center.
Rent a motorhome in Bergamo and explore the city and its surroundings: just outside the city center are several rest stops where you can leave your motorhome and set off to explore the surrounding nature and lakes. You can find the ideal camping spot suited to your needs with roadsurfer spots. Download the roadsurfer spots app and book your camping spot online in advance or spontaneously on the go, and explore ready-made road trip routes, or even make your own!
