Hanover is conveniently located in northern Germany, which means you’re only a 7-hour drive from Copenhagen, Denmark or Malmo, Sweden. Whether you’re an experienced camper or a camping newbie, our tips on renting an RV in Hanover will help you explore all the possibilities and prepare for your European road trip.
U.S. citizens do not need a visa for short tourist visits to Germany. Here’s what you should know if you’re planning to travel:
There are public parking spaces within a half mile of our Hanover station in Mergelfeld. If you want to explore the city with your camper van, there are also multi-story parking garages in the city center on Andreaestraße, Osterstraße, Karolinenstraße, and Mehlstraße – just make sure to check height restrictions. Alternatively, if you are bringing your own vehicle, you’ll find plenty of free parking spaces at Klagesmarkt, where you can park your car before picking up your van from us.
Before you return your roadsurfer camper van, you can refill with diesel and AdBlue at one of these convenient gas stations near our location here:
Please note: The AdBlue service station information provided is for guidance only and is provided without warranty of any kind; customers are advised to check the information for accuracy on their own responsibility, as roadsurfer assumes no liability for the accuracy or timeliness of the information.
There is a camper van site in Hanover North where you can fill up your fresh water tank at the beginning of your trip, as well as empty the grey water on your journey back to our Hanover station. You can use the supply and disposal station below without needing to book a campsite.
The best time to visit Hanover is during the warmer months between May and September. We highly recommend these months especially for car enthusiasts, as the city hosts many special automotive events. Keep an eye out for the VW Bus Festival, the Beetle Sunshine Tour, the Bulli Festival, and the Street Mag Show, Germany’s largest American car and Harley show. You can also visit different art festivals, including entertainment via performances, installations, and musical acts at various venues around the city. Many people also come into town to view the monthly firework competitions that take place at Herrenhausen Gardens.
