U.S. citizens do not need a visa for short tourist visits to France. Here’s what you should know if you’re planning to travel:
Nice is a beautiful city, but like any major city, finding parking, especially for a large vehicle, can be challenging. One option is securing a paid parking spot in the city center, but it’s crucial to pay attention to the maximum height restrictions, as many spaces are limited to 2 meters / 6 feet. A convenient parking garage is located at the Port Lympia garage (Quai Lunel, 06300 Nice), accommodating vehicles up to 2.1 meters (6.8 ft).
Alternatively, street parking is available, subject to charges from Monday to Saturday, between 9:00am and 8:00pm, with a maximum limit of 2 hours on weekdays and 3 hours on Saturdays. To avoid the stress of navigating the city center, consider parking at a park-and-ride facility outside Nice and using public transit to reach the city center. Keep in mind that these facilities are free of charge but reserved for public transit users, so be prepared to show a ticket when exiting the parking lots.
Before you return your camper van rental, you will need to refill the tank with diesel and AdBlue at a gas station. We recommend the following location:
Please note: The AdBlue service station information provided is for guidance only and is provided without warranty of any kind; customers are advised to check the information for accuracy on their own responsibility, as roadsurfer assumes no liability for the accuracy or timeliness of the information.
You’ll want to fill up the fresh water tank of your camper van or RV rental at the beginning of your trip. The best place to do this is at your campground if they offer these services, or at certain gas stations. You can also use a motorhome service for this. If you’re looking for an address, the closest service station can be found at Camping Le Parc des Maurettes 730, Avenue du Dr Lefèbvre, 06270 Villeneuve Loubet. The service there costs €8.
Due to its Mediterranean climate, Nice is a perfect spot to rent a camper van, offering pleasant temperatures throughout the year. The optimal weather occurs between May and October. To steer clear of the peak season and the crowds, we suggest considering May/June or September/October. During these times, you can relish almost summer-like temperatures in a more serene atmosphere. To witness the lavender fields in full bloom, plan your visit for June and July. And if you happen to be in Nice in February, be sure not to miss the Nice Carnival, one of the world’s top four carnivals, featuring a lively parade and the renowned Battle of Flowers.
