Getting to the station
From Salzburg Central Station: Take bus line 3 (toward Salzburg Süd) directly from the station and get off at Josefiau. From there, it’s about a five-minute walk.
From Salzburg Airport: By taxi, Uber, or private transfer, the trip takes about 10–15 minutes, depending on traffic. If you prefer public transportation, take bus line 2 from the airport to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (Central Station), then continue as described above.
Parking information
Short-term parking is available along the street for up to three hours. For long-term parking, there are a few spaces behind the auto repair shop next door, but availability is limited.

If you rent a camper van in Salzburg and want to visit the city before you set off on your road trip, you can park your camper van in or outside the city center. Here are some options:
Parking garages in the city center: Salzburg has several parking garages in the city center, such as the Parkhaus Altstadtgarage, the Parkgarage Linzergasse, and the Parkgarage Kajetanerplatz. You can park here with our smaller camper vans, but you should be aware of the height restrictions for motorhomes.
Parking lots outside the city center: There are parking lots just outside the city center that are better suited for motorhomes, such as the parking lot at the Salzburg exhibition grounds (Messezentrum Salzburg).
P+R parking lots: Park-and-ride parking lots are also a good option, as you can easily take public transit to the city center from here. You can use the following P+R parking lots:
When you rent a motorhome in Salzburg you’ll need to return it with a full tank of diesel and refill the AdBlue. These are the closest BP gas stations where you can conveniently fill up before returning your camper van rental:

The best time to rent a motorhome in Salzburg depends entirely on your travel preferences. Basically, you can visit Salzburg at any time of year, even in winter. Salzburg is known for its beautiful Christmas markets and winter events, such as the New Year’s Eve concerts on Residenzplatz, the Mozart Week, and the Perchten runs. The region around Salzburg also offers a picturesque winter landscape with mountains and ski resorts that are ideal for winter activities such as hiking or skiing. However, you should bear in mind that not all campsites are open in the winter months from December to February.
If you prefer a classic summer road trip, you should rent a camper in Salzburg from June to August. The summer months are perfect if you want to experience the lively atmosphere of the city and its summer events, such as the Summer Scene in June and the Salzburg Festival in July and August. With summer temperatures, you can enjoy long days in the countryside at this time and explore the beautiful lakes in the Salzburg region, such as Wolfgangsee, Fuschlsee, Mondsee, Salzachsee, and Zeller See.
Spring from March to May and fall from September to November are also ideal for a road trip from Salzburg. The temperatures are mild to warm, the roads and campsites are less crowded than in summer, and you can enjoy the colorful spring or fall landscape and your bike in the entire Salzburg region.
