Karlsruhe-Ettlingen is a great city for exploring by camper van, with two designated RV parking lots in the city itself. The Maxau marina parking lot offers around 15 spaces for campervans, while there are two double parking spots reserved for RVs at the residential lane on Ettlinger Allee (numbers 5 to 8).
You can also park overnight at the Durlach campsite, and from there, you can reach the city quickly either on foot or by public transport.
