roadsurfer tip 1: The “Handwerkerhof”
Delicious scents will lure you into the building. As soon as you enter the old yard you will be magically drawn to the “Handwerkerhof”. Nuremberg delicacies such as sausages and gingerbread make the experience even better. Cute little streets with half-timbered houses take you back in time.
How will you find this place? If you are at the central station, head towards the old town in the city. The “Frauenturm” will catch your eye instantly and lead you the way. The historic courtyard of the tower offers you the opportunity to watch craftsman doing traditional handiwork and forget the world for a second. Gingerbread, sausages, leather: everything here is made by hand. Pottery, tins, wooden artworks and goldsmiths are additional types of handcraft you can experience there.
roadsurfer tip: the flea market and “love island”
Nuremberg flea market, on the small “Pegnitzinsel” (island), offers one of the greatest experiences a market can offer. Hard to believe that it was once home to pigs. The houses with loving facades have been restored and Venetian gondolas seduce lovers to get into a boat and ride on the “Pegnitz”.
Campervan hire in Nuremberg: Rummage through the pretty fashion, toy, jewelry and residential treasure shops and taste exceptionally good wine and coffee. A visit of the art gallery is worthwhile as well. If you need some rest from all the walking afterwards, make yourself comfortable on the lush green meadow of love island at the eastern part of the little place. By the way, here is another tip if you visit the “Henkersteg”: head right to “Unschlittplatz”.
There is something for everyone. Up in the air and under water!

roadsurfer tip: “God will preserve it”. This is a southern German saying, translated, and very important around the area. You will come across it while visiting the gardens for a beer or two such as “Hexenhaeusle” at “Vestnertorgraben”. Under old trees with a magnificent view on the “Kaiserburg”, every beer and meal tastes better.
The “Schnepper”, on the other hand, is a famous meeting point among locals of Nuremberg and should be visited as well. It used to be a former public toilet, which is not the most appetizing thing.
