Getting to the station
From San Francisco International Airport (SFO): From the luggage claim area, head over to the AirTrain and hop on towards the Bart/Terminal G parking stop. From there, catch the Richmond or Pittsburgh/Antioch Bart line. It’s about a 10-stop ride until you reach the Powell Street station. When you arrive, head upstairs to street level and find the 45 bus route. That’ll take you straight to the Caltrain depot. Ride the bus for 4 stops, then it’s just a quick three-minute stroll. All in all, this route should take you about an hour and 15 minutes. Alternatively, you take a Uber or Lyft, which might cut your travel time in half.

Please ensure that you have the necessary visa before travelling. The following guide applies to all UK and EU citizens, including those from Ireland, Norway, Switzerland, and Croatia:
San Francisco is a year-round destination, but the summer months of June to August draw the biggest crowds. This is the time for the renowned San Francisco Pride (June) and Outside Lands Music Festival (August). However, the autumn season offers the city’s most pleasant weather and hosts events like the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival (September – October). Take part in these festive delights with your RV rental in San Francisco to get the most out of your Californian adventure.
At the start of your journey, remember to fill up the freshwater tank, and when your trip comes to an end, be sure to empty your grey water. While you can do this at a campsite, if you require a dedicated area, these are the closest water service sites to our location:
Pease ensure the fuel tank is topped up shortly before returning your motorhome rental. Depending on the camper model, petrol or diesel and DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) are required. Please check in advance which fuel your camper requires. Failure to return the tanks full may result in a service fee. DEF is available at most Walmart and Target locations. Parking within the city centre can be challenging and expensive for anyone booking campervan hire in San Francisco. However, for shorter stays, there are RV parking spots near Fisherman’s Wharf and Union Square like Longshoremen Lot #341, which has no height restrictions and is close to major attractions. Street parking is allowed, but keep in mind that you’re not legally allowed to park for longer than 72 hours on any public street in California.
One of the best things about motorhome hire in San Francisco is that you’re never far from an RV park. Treasure Island Mobile Home & RV Park is just a 25-minute drive from the city centre, offering waterfront views and full hook-ups. Marin Park RV is also a suitable option. Located just across the Golden Gate Bridge and within walking distance to public transport services, it’s an ideal base for exploring the city. Whichever RV park you choose, you’ll be greeted with breathtaking vistas and convenient access to all that San Francisco has to offer.
