When you hire a campervan in Malaga you can be on the road right away, trusting that your roadsurfer home on wheels is fully stocked. Your campervan comes with an awning, camping table and two chairs to enjoy the space outside of your vehicle. The kitchen box allows you to save money on eating out: you’ve got all the pots, pans, and utensils to cook up your own meals. There’s even a corkscrew and bottle opener, and a coffee pot, plus mugs for your morning coffee or tea. You’ll want to bring dish towels, sponges, and eco-friendly dish soap along with you. When you rent a motorhome in Malaga, you’ll need to bring your own bedding, or you can hire what you need from the roadsurfer station. Full details of what’s included in your campervan rental and our suggestions on what to bring along to your Malaga campervan holiday can be found in the equipment list.
Malaga and the Costa del Sol are well-known for their beaches and warm temperatures, which is why there is a lot of tourism in the summer months. June to August is the high season in Malaga and will be bustling with tourists. If you love the sun and don’t mind tourist crowds, Malaga will be the ideal destination for you, especially in the middle of August, when the Malaga Fair takes place. We recommend hiring a campervan in Malaga at Easter. The city will be crowded but not like in the summer months.
You will need to fill up with fresh water if you want to use the shower or the kitchen sink and you will need to make sure that you empty the grey water and waste tanks before returning your motorhome rental. Here are the closest service areas to our station in Malaga:
You’ll need to fill up with diesel and refill the AdBlue at the end of your trip to return your campervan rental. You can do both at the following petrol station close to our Malaga location:
Please note: The AdBlue service station information provided is for guidance only and is provided without warranty of any kind; customers are advised to check the information for accuracy on their own responsibility, as roadsurfer assumes no liability for the accuracy or timeliness of the information.
There are two parking zones in Malaga, the blue and the white zone, where you can park your campervan rental. Please note that there are two different types of blue zones. The normal rotation blue zone is for up to 2 and a half hours, and the high rotation blue zone is for a maximum stay of 30 minutes. These zones are indicated by a blue line and have a sign indicating if they are short or long stays. We recommend using the Telpark app to modify your parking time from your location.
If you’re lucky and patient, you can also find free parking in the white zones in Malaga. The best places to park for free in Malaga, and be relatively close to the centre, are in the Victoria neighbourhood or near the train station, and from there, travel to the city centre via public transport.
You don’t have to register a toll system for your roadsurfer vehicle when you drive in Spain, and you can decide whether to use a toll-free motorway or a (private) toll road.
The private ones are marked with an “R” or “AP” and a toll sign on the traffic signs. Toll roads can be paid at the toll booth by credit card or cash. Please pay attention and do not drive through the “Telepeaje” booths, as those are only for cars with a transponder installed. You can check which ones are toll roads and how much they cost here.
