Rent a roadsurfer RV or Camper Van in Lübeck

Renting an RV in Lübeck gives you the chance to explore one of Germany’s oldest Hanseatic cities. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Lübeck’s charming old town is surrounded by a moated wall and offers a rich cultural experience, with five stunning churches that dominate the city skyline. Must-see spots include the iconic Holstentor Gate, the European Hansemuseum, and a tour of the museum harbor. Foodies will love the Schiffergesellschaft, a historic restaurant that’s been a meeting place for Lübeck’s sailors and captains for over 500 years. If you’re looking to venture beyond the city, RV rental in Lübeck gives you the freedom to explore the surrounding area. Spend a day at Timmendorfer Strand beach or visit the cliffs at Boltenhagen on a sunny day, or take a short drive to Hamburg or the island of Fehmarn. Lübeck is also the gateway to the Baltic Sea, Scandinavia, and the Baltic States, making RV rental the perfect way to travel further and explore all that northern Europe has to offer.

Visa & travel requirements

U.S. citizens do not need a visa for short tourist visits to Germany. Here’s what you should know if you’re planning to travel:

  • Americans can visit Germany and other Schengen Area countries for up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism or business without a visa.
  • You must have a valid U.S. passport with at least six months’ validity beyond your planned stay, and proof of onward travel or return ticket may be requested upon arrival.
  • If you plan to travel from Germany to other European countries, check the entry requirements for each country, as rules may vary.
  • Beginning in 2025, U.S. travelers will need to apply for an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) approval online before arrival. The process is simple and similar to an ESTA for the U.S.

RV parking in Lübeck-Kastorf

Lübeck is a camper van-friendly city with plenty of parking options for RVs. In general, parking on the street and in designated parking spots is allowed as long as your vehicle weighs less than 7.5 tons, which all of our RV rentals in Lübeck do.

For the best parking experience, we recommend car parks 2 and 4 in Lastadie or Willy-Brandt-Allee, as the old town is just a short walk away. However, keep in mind that car park 2 is sometimes reserved for buses during festivals and events, so it’s a good idea to check the city’s schedule before heading there.

Nearby gas stations

Make sure to refuel with diesel and AdBlue before returning your hired campervan or motorhome. You can fill up at the nearby petrol station:

  • There is a petrol station located directly opposite the entrance to the industrial estate. Please note, however, that AdBlue is only available in canisters and not at the fuel pumps.

Please note: The AdBlue service station information provided is for guidance only and is provided without warranty of any kind; customers are advised to check the information for accuracy on their own responsibility, as roadsurfer assumes no liability for the accuracy or timeliness of the information.
