Getting to the station
From Edinburgh Airport: Take the “Newhaven” tram to Edinburgh Park Station. Transfer to the ScotRail train (toward Helensburgh Central) and get off at Uphall station. Walk to the end of the platform and follow the pathway under the motorway. We are located directly on the other side of the motorway.
From Edinburgh Waverley Train Station: Take train ScotRail (direction Helensburgh Central) and get off at station Uphall (see above).

The best time to hire a campervan in Edinburgh is April to June, when flowers bloom and nature wakes up from her Winter slumber but before the roads get too busy with summer traffic. In September and October the surrounding countryside will begin to shed its summer bounty turning the forests to dazzling shades of red and yellow, whilst still being warm enough to enjoy #vanlife.
Of course, while summer is the busiest season, it’s also festival time: August sees the Edinburgh Art Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and the Edinburgh International Festival all taking place in the city, and the summer weather makes it the perfect time to roam the city in search of entertainment. Remember that in Edinburgh there is always a chance of rain, so bring your waterproofs whatever the season.
When you hire a campervan in Edinburgh you’ll need to fill up your water tank with fresh water at the beginning of your drive, and empty your waste water before returning to the station. Fresh water can be filled at Shell petrol station, Broxburn EH52 5BQ. Most city centre car parks are limited to 4 hours. George Street, Queen Street will cost you around £4.60 per hour. Parking in the city centre is free on Sundays before 12:30 p.m. and on certain public holidays.

Fuel yourself as well as your campervan for the trip ahead. Other than the options listed in the ‘essentials’ section, there is a Greggs around the corner from the roadsurfer station (Newbridge Industrial Estate, U10D, Cliftonhall Rd, Newbridge EH28 8PJ).
If you want to drive a little further then Brew Culture in Queensferry (31A High St, South Queensferry EH30 9PP) does great coffee and is perfectly situated for those heading over the Firth of Forth. The Wee Winchburgh Café (41 Main St, Winchburgh, Broxburn EH52 6RA) is a 10 minute drive northwest, ideal for those aiming for Loch Lomond and beyond.
You might not be ready to start a long drive the day you pick-up your campervan rental from our Edinburgh station. Linwater Caravan Park is a quick 10 minute drive from our location, great for anyone picking up their van late in the day or needing to drop their van off first thing in the morning. Gallowhill Caravan and Camping Park is a 30 minute drive, perfect for those heading over the Forth Bridge. Heading West? Carr’s Hill is 30 minutes away.
