Your campervan comes with an awning, camping table and two chairs to enjoy the space outside of your vehicle. The kitchen box allows you to save money on eating out: you’ve got all the pots, pans, and utensils to cook up your own meals. When you rent a small motorhome from Regensburg you will need to bring your own bedding, or you can hire what you need from the roadsurfer station. The best time to hire a campervan in Regensburg is summer, just like in the rest of Germany. June to August is the most popular time to travel, as the weather is usually warm and sunny. It’s also the best time to swim in the many Bavarian lakes or take a boat trip on the Danube. Every two years in June, Regensburg also hosts the Bürgerfest, which is definitely worth a visit, as the whole city comes alive with concerts, food stalls and events in the city centre and along the banks of the Danube. The annual Jazz Festival also takes place in June.
Spring and autumn are also good times to visit Regensburg and the surrounding area, as this is when nature is at its most colourful. Excursions and hikes and other outdoor activities around the city are perfect at this time thanks to the mild temperatures. It can get very foggy in the countryside around Regensburg because of its proximity to the Danube, so you should drive carefully and always switch on your fog lights. In winter, there are beautiful Christmas markets such as the Christmas market at Haidplatz, the Lucrezia market at Kohlenmarkt or the fairytale Christmas market at Thurn und Taxis Castle.
