Getting to the station
From Mannheim Airport (MHG): From the airport, walk to “Neuostheim, Endstelle” and take train RNV5 toward “Schriesheim Bahnhof” to “Heidelberg, Bismarckplatz”. Transfer to RNV 26 train toward “Kirchheim, Friedhof” and get off at “Heidelberg, Rudolf-Diesel-Str”. From here, it’s a two-minute walk to our roadsurfer station.
Alternatively, you can take a Taxi / Uber (20 minutes).
From Heidelberg Central Station: From the station, take bus 717 toward “Schwetzingen” to “Montpellierbrücke Steig D”. From here, it’s a 3-minute walk to the roadsurfer station.

There is no parking available at the Heidelberg roadsurfer station.

The best time to rent a motorhome or campervan in Heidelberg is from May to September when the temperatures are a pleasant 19 to 25 degrees. There are a lot of festivals and cultural events happening in Heidelberg during these months. Visit the Heidelberg Stückemarkt between April and May, a theatre festival which premieres lots of exciting plays. Germany’s first international queer festival takes place also takes place in May. The Heidelberg Castle Festival takes place from June to August and has lots of open-air theatre performances and concerts in Germany’s best-known castle ruins. From the end of July to the beginning of August, you can admire modern art by street artists who transform entire building facades into works of art at the METROPOLINK Festival.
Before you start your road trip from Heidelberg, you need to fill up the fresh water tank to be able to use the sink, shower and toilet (depending on your model). Some petrol stations offer such a service and you can also use the foldable canister that you will find in your camper.
