In summer, from June to August, you can enjoy many outdoor activities in warm weather, such as hiking, cycling, and water sports at Lake Achensee or other lakes in the area.
In autumn, from September to October, the weather is still mild to warm, there are fewer tourists, and with the beautiful autumn colours, this time is ideal for hiking in the mountains. However, the weather can sometimes be unpredictable, so it’s worth packing weatherproof clothing.
In winter, from December to February, you can enjoy winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing in the surrounding ski resorts. Bear in mind that it can be very cold, especially at high altitudes. And in the high season around Christmas and New Year, the ski resorts can be very busy, so you should book early.
In spring, from March to May, the weather slowly warms up again, making this time of year ideal for hiking in the midst of blossoming nature. There may still be snow at higher altitudes, so make sure you wear non-slip footwear.
Weather conditions can vary from year to year. So if you’re planning to do special outdoor activities such as skiing in winter or hiking in summer, we recommend checking the weather conditions again shortly before your holiday. It’s also advisable to book activities in advance during the high season, especially in summer and winter, as popular places can book up quickly.
