Frequently Asked Questions About the New VW California
The ever-popular cult model has undergone some upgrades, and here’s the scoop: all the features we have come to love remain intact. Plus, there’s an enhanced 3-room layout thanks to a second sliding door, offering an even more spacious feel, along with more interior flexibility. Moreover, innovative technologies elevate both the driving and camping experiences. You can control camping functions via 3 touchpoints: on the latest infotainment system with ChatGPT, at the camper control unit on the C-pillar, and through the “California on Tour” app on your mobile devices. Overall, with its height of less than 2 meters, the new California continues to be the perfect combination of an everyday vehicle and a camper van.
The new California boasts a second sliding door, allowing for openings on both sides of the vehicle and creating three distinct zones: Inside, there’s the sleeping area, the cozy living and lounge area, and adjacent to the kitchen there is the dining room and outdoor kitchen. The additional sliding door also allows for further flexibility: Groceries can be stored directly in the fridge, and loading and unloading on the driver’s side saves the hassle of walking around the vehicle when traveling solo. The seats in the passenger compartment are variably installed, allowing them to be individually adjusted or removed, thus increasing storage space as needed.
The new California is a true all-rounder – the Multivan for everyday life and the camper van for all of your vacations. This model is suitable for all types of trips – family vacations, couple getaways, trips with dogs, or adventurous solo road trips.
The new VW California Ocean and California Coast are almost identical, with just two key differences. The Ocean comes with an automatic pop-up roof and an extra roof storage box, while the Coast has a manual pop-up roof and no separate storage box. The model you get will depend on the pick-up location and will be shown when you book.
