When you hire a campervan in Barcelona you can be on the road right away, trusting that your roadsurfer home on wheels is fully stocked. Your campervan comes with an awning, camping table and two chairs to enjoy the space outside of your vehicle. The kitchen box allows you to save money on eating out: you’ve got all the pots, pans, and utensils to cook up your own meals. There’s even a corkscrew and bottle opener, and a coffee pot, plus mugs for your morning coffee or tea, although you’ll want to bring dish towels, sponges, and eco-friendly dish soap. When you rent a small motorhome from Barcelona you will need to bring your own bedding, or you can hire what you need from the station. Full details of what’s included in your campervan rental and our suggestions on what to bring along to your Barcelona campervan holiday can be found in the equipment list.
Barcelona, like any other Spanish city, is worth visiting at any time of the year, but during the summer months, the city is indeed very crowded with tourists. We recommend renting your campervan or motorhome in Barcelona between May and June. Temperatures start to rise, the tourist crowds are still ok, and there are several events in the city.
Summer in Barcelona is anything but calm and relaxed. There are tourists from all over the world, high temperatures accompanied by crowded beaches, and the prices of everything tend to rise due to the high season.
During autumn and winter, it is very likely to rain, but being a city located directly on the Mediterranean, temperatures remain stable. There are fewer tourists during this time and many holidays to take advantage of.

If you would like to visit Barcelona. the best thing to do is to park outside of the city centre, and visit the Catalan capital by public transport. You don’t have to register a toll system for your roadsurfer vehicle when you drive in Spain, and you can decide whether to use a toll-free motorway or a (private) toll road.
The private ones are marked with an “R” or “AP” and a toll sign on the traffic signs. Toll roads can be paid at the toll booth by credit card or cash. Please pay attention and do not drive through the “Telepeaje” booths, as those are only for cars with a transponder installed. You can check which ones are toll roads and how much they cost here.
