Antwerp’s convenient location makes it the ideal starting point for touring Belgium and the Netherlands in a campervan. Read on below for some essential tips for renting a motorhome from Antwerp, such as the camping equipment provided to where to fill up with petrol on your return journey.
When you hire a campervan in Antwerp you can be on the road right away, trusting that your roadsurfer home on wheels is fully stocked. Your campervan comes with an awning, camping table and two chairs to enjoy the space outside of your vehicle. The kitchen box allows you to save money on eating out: you’ve got all the pots, pans, and utensils to cook up your own meals. There’s even a corkscrew and bottle opener, and a cafetière plus mugs for your morning coffee or tea, although you’ll want to bring dish towels, sponges, and eco-friendly dish soap. When you rent a small motorhome from Antwerp you will need to bring your own bedding, or you can hire what you need from the station. Full details of what’s included and our suggestions on what to bring along to your Antwerp campervan holiday can be found in the equipment list.
The best time to visit Antwerp is in June when there is minimal rainfall, and it’s not yet too hot to explore the city. May and August is also a great time to rent a campervan, although you might want to pack your raincoat for the occasional rain shower. For those who love music, the four-day Jazz Middelheim festival takes place every August, or check out Laundry Day, a dance festival on the first Saturday of September. Beer connoisseurs won’t want to miss out on the Beer Passion Weekend which takes place in June and has over 150 beers on offer.
To fill up with water or to empty your grey water at the end of your road trip, there are several service areas available near the roadsurfer rental station:
We recommend the following petrol station to fill up with Diesel and AdBlue before returning your campervan rental to the Antwerp roadsurfer location:

The easiest way to park and explore the city is to use the 9 free Park&Ride car parks on the outskirts of the city. You can also park on streets with a blue sign with a white P or for free along the waterfront. In the pink zones, you can park for free for 2 hours, but you still need to buy a parking ticket at the ticket machine or via the app. You can also park for free in the blue zones for 2 hours with a parking disc. Please note that the entire Antwerp city centre is classified as a LEZ: Low Emission Zone and all foreign drivers must register on the official city website to avoid a fine.
You may want to explore the city before heading off on your road trip through Belgium. For camping close to our station, we recommend the City Camping Antwerp, located in the city centre and only 20 minutes from our station, or Camperpark Volgelzang, which is less than 15 minutes drive away. If you are travelling in Brussels and beyond, find a unique camping experience with roadsurfer spots and book it from the comfort of your campervan. Available in selected countries.
