Plus, with a bank holiday on Friday and Monday, Easter is the perfect excuse for a long four-day weekend away or to make the most of your holiday allowance and book a longer break. Below, we share inspiration to kickstart your camping plans and expert advice to help you get the most out of your Easter motorhome holiday.
Why is Easter a great time for a camping trip?
Falling towards the end of April, Easter 2025 is the ideal time to hit the road and enjoy a camping adventure. The weather is getting warmer, the spring flowers are blooming and the days are getting longer, but the advantages of camping at Easter don’t stop there:
- With a bank holiday Friday and Monday you can enjoy a four-day weekend without taking any time off
- Travelling during the Easter holidays means there is no need for your children to miss school
- Many UK beaches permit dogs until the beginning of May, so Easter 2025 is the perfect time for a last-minute beach getaway with your four-legged friends
- The longer days and milder temperatures are ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling and climbing.
- Flora and fauna are beginning to flourish, making it a great time for nature lovers to get exploring
- Prices are usually lower than in peak season during the summer months
- Many campsites have great availability, especially if you book early.

Long weekend Easter road trips around the UK
With a bank holiday on Friday the 18th and Monday the 21st, at Easter, you can enjoy a four-day weekend camping adventure without taking a single day off work.To make the most of your time away, we recommend opting for a route closer to your chosen roadsurfer pick-up station so you can enjoy the perfect mix of time spent on the road and time relaxing at campsites or enjoying your favourite outdoor pursuits.
London to Brighton
If you’re planning to pick up your rental from London, chances are you live in the city or nearby and might be looking to escape the hustle of the capital over Easter. So travelling out of London to Brighton and spending some time by the coast is the perfect option for you.
Just over two hours from London, Brighton is easily reachable on day one of your road trip if you want to make the most of exploring the South East Coast.
Families with small children will love exploring the expansive beaches of Camber Sands or West Wittering, while those travelling with their four-legged friends can make the most of the fact that all Brighton beaches permit dogs until 30th April.
For nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, we recommend journeying onwards to Eastbourne and exploring the eclectic array of wildlife that calls the Seven Sisters Country Park home.
Bristol to the Cotswolds
Easter is a great time to explore the rural beauty of the Cotswolds. From charming villages full of quaint honey-hued cottages to historic sites and miles of countryside, there is so much to see and do on a road trip through the Cotswolds.
If you’re travelling from Bristol, we recommend making Castle Combe your first stop. Not only is it one of the closest Cotswold villages to Bristol, but it is brimming with classic Cotswold charm and has been featured in multiple films and TV series, including Stardust, War Horse and Downton Abbey.
From Castle Combe, head to Tetbury, home of King Charles and Queen Camilla, before travelling onwards to Cirencester, known as the capital of the Cotswolds. Other notable towns and villages to explore include Banbury and Moreton-in-Marsh towards the north of the Cotswolds, and Cheltenham and Stroud as you head back towards Bristol.
If exploring charming villages, towns and historic houses isn’t enough to keep you occupied, other notable attractions include Westonbrit Arboretum, a paradise for outdoors lovers, Cotswold Water Park, a wet and wild adventure playground and Cotswold Farm Park, ideal for young and old.
Manchester to the Lake District
If you’re picking up your rental vehicle from Manchester, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring some of the UK’s best-loved National Parks, with the Peak District, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales all within easy reach. But as it tends to be slightly quieter over the Easter break than during the peak of the summer holidays, we suggest heading to the Lake District.
If you’ve never visited before, make sure to visit popular lakes and towns, including Derwent Water, Windermere, Kendal and Coniston where some of the Lake District’s main attractions lie. But if it’s tranquility you’re seeking we recommend heading to the north west of the National Park to discover less well known gems like Crummock Water and Buttermere.
With better weather and longer days, Easter is also a great time to lace up your boots and have a go at some of Wainwright’s famous fell walks or tackle the UK’s tallest mountain, Scafell Pike.
Edinburgh to Loch Lomond
Our Edinburgh roadsurfer station is perfectly situated for you to enjoy the splendour of Scotland.
For an unforgettable trip that makes the most of the spring sunshine (and avoids the worst of the midges), we recommend heading to Loch Lomond. Not only is the stunning lake a paradise for watersport enthusiasts with an array of activities from private boat hire to stand-up paddleboarding on offer, but it is the ideal destination for friends, couples and families alike.
As well as the Loch itself, key attractions nearby include the Treezone Aerial Adventure Course, Bird of Prey Centre, pony trekking, and multiple walking and cycling trails to explore.
Plus at just over two hours drive from Edinburgh, you can combine your trip with some time spent exploring the city or pop into neighbouring Glasgow on your way to Loch Lomond.
Longer Easter road trips abroad
If you’ve read our blog on maximising your bank holidays you may have a bit more time to play with for your Easter getaway, so why not consider one of these road trips slightly further afield:
Keukenhof Tulip Fields, Netherlands – The last two weeks in April are the best time to see the tulips in all their glory at the Keukenhof Tulip Fields, so Easter 2025 is the perfect time for a road trip.
As a fairly compact country, it’s easy to make the most of your trip, travelling to key cities like Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam. Plus, whether you’re travelling solo, with friends or young children, the Netherlands is an extremely welcoming country.
Amalfi Coast, Italy – Hiring a campervan this Easter and exploring the Amalfi Coast not only means you can enjoy less crowded roads and attractions, but you can also experience some of Italy’s unique Easter celebrations, like the Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross), or Sorrento’s Black Procession.
Other key places to visit include Naples, the home of pizza, the preserved Roman city of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius or you can just relax and soak up the relaxed vibes of stylish coastal towns like Sorrento.
Algarve, Portugal – If you have seven days for an Easter getaway, we have the perfect road trip itinerary chasing the sun along the Algarve.
We recommend flying into Faro and collecting your camper from our station near the airport, before hitting the road and heading to Ferragudo to explore this charming whitewashed fishing village and walk along the Trail of Headlands.
You can then take some time exploring some of the best beaches in Portugal as you drive along the coast towards Lagos and continuing along the Algarve with key stops, such as Burgau, Sagres, Costa Vicentina, Olhão and São Rafael.
Provence, France – Avoid the hustle of the summer months, and explore Provence in all its splendour this Easter. With warm, pleasant temperatures and blue skies, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a more active adventure in this stunning region of France.
Must-visit destinations include Aix-en-Provence, birthplace of Cézanne, Isle sur la Sorgue, the antiques capital of the south of France, Gordes, a charming hilltop town, the medieval village of Lacoste and Roussillon, famed for its red cliffs.
One of the main advantages of hiring a motorhome this Easter is that you really are free to travel wherever the road takes you. So for more road trip inspiration and detailed itineraries, be sure to check out our Blog.
