These campers are perfect for trips with friends

Planning a long weekend or an extended road trip? We have a camper for every adventure. Whether you want to go wild camping in the UK, hit the surf on the coast of Portugal, spend the night on the beaches in Croatia or perhaps explore around Barcelona – our colourful roadsurfers will take you and your friends to your dream destination.

All our roadsurfers are small space wonders, so you won’t get on each other’s nerves on a longer camping trip. If you’re going away with a group of friends, our Camper Cabin and Road House are perfect because these models have enough space for 4 – 5 people. Look forward to cosy seats for a long drive that can be transformed into a living room in the evening and enough sleeping space for everyone thanks to an extra bed in the pop-up roof. And for those who also want to take their four-legged friends with them, you can always book the dog add-on!

If you only want to travel with your BFF, you can hire our Beach Hostel. There’s enough space for 2 people to sleep and thanks to its compact dimensions, you will be able to nip through the smallest streets. The Beach Hostel is one of our cheapest campers, so you have more money left for fun and activities.

And for those that want to travel together but looking for a bit more “me-time”, we recommend our Camper Cabin Deluxe. It even has a room divider that can be closed to divide the inside of the camper into a small 2-room flat on wheels. So there’s plenty of room to just retreat and unwind after a long day of exploring.

Awesome Camping Destinations with Friends

The Whatsapp group is popping off, the camper is hired and now the only question is where to go? It’s best to clarify in advance what everyone wants to do on their holiday. Camping actually only describes your means of transport and where you will sleep, but not yet how you will spend the rest of the days.

Do you want to go hiking or on a long bike ride? Do you want to surf or just chill on the beach? Do you want to visit cities and party or feel like Robinson Crusoe in the great outdoors? Or would you prefer a mixture of all of these? Here are some great ideas for destinations near and far.

You can easily and convinvently book online, ahead of time or on the go. You can also stay at the roadsurfer spots without a rented roadsurfer, for example with a tent or a self-built van.

Tips & Tricks for a camping trip with friends

Budget

As with any other holiday, you should discuss what your individual and group budget is for your trip beforehand. This way, everyone can set the right expectations and you can avoid unpleasant discussions about money on the road.

Things like petrol, tolls, parking fees, and basic foodstuffs are best paid for out of a joint piggy bank. Everyone pays the same amount into this beforehand and it is managed by one person on the road. Or you can use the app “Splitwise” to record your expenses during the trip and then automatically calculate who owes what to whom.

Whatever type of campsite you go to, remember to enter the correct number of people when booking, as many average pitch prices are based on a 2-person camper van.

Who does what?

You can take turns driving which makes a long drive a lot more enjoyable. But for all the other tasks that come with a camping trip, it’s a good idea to divide your workload. One person in the group is really good at cooking, another doesn’t like driving in the dark and the third can’t read maps? Talk in advance about who can do what (as well as who might enjoy that task more than others), who doesn’t like something at all, and how you can divide the work and the routes to be travelled fairly so that no one feels disadvantaged or overburdened.

Packing list

What do you need for an extended camping trip? We’ve put together a great packing list for you to find everything you need for camping.

Packing list for camping

If you are going camping with your friends, we recommend the following:

  • UNO  – the classic card game.
  • Cards Against Humanity – the game that should only be played with good friends.
  • Playlists – don’t forget all those songs you used to rock out to back in your school days.
  • Aspirin & ingredients for a good hangover breakfast
  • Noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs – in case you have a really great friend who also snores really badly

The rest is up to your imagination!
