4-Day Camping Trip at the Baltic Sea
If you love the wind in your hair and the salt on your lips, you should take a look around the coast of the German Baltic Sea. Whether Fehmarn, Poel, Rügen or Usedom – The islands are a dream and perfectly suited for a long weekend with a VW bus.
Get out of your bed! It’s best to start your greatest adventures slept off as there are a few of them when camping at the Baltic Sea. First of all: The island of Hiddensee is always worth a visit, you only have to exchange the Bulli for a bike because the small island with the three sweet villages are not allowed to be travelled with four wheels. Those who don’t want to cycle can spend their time elsewhere with all kinds of water sports, amber grinding, bathing, digging and other sea fun. Here are our tips for a four-day camping holiday in the Baltic Sea.
Day 1: Fehmarn – Island of Bulli fans
If you don’t get wet eyes here, you’re not a real Bulli enthusiast. The island of Fehmarn is not only a dream destination for young families and couples, also the “Midsummer Bulli Festival” takes place here every year. Lifestylers and sun worshippers are right here: During the day, you can take part in crazy activities with your Bulli and bands provide a pure summer feeling. The smell of fresh BBQ and smoky campfires, however, lures you in the evening. But Fehmarn is also worth a visit away from the festival: Wulfen Bay is a great place to surf and anyone who likes lighthouses or submarines will not find them once.
Day 2: Caribbean flair on Usedom
White sandy beaches and clear blue water are not only in the Caribbean but also in Germany – more precisely on Usedom. It is the dream of a flawless beach holiday. You have your kids on board? Perfect! Between butterfly, ostrich and bison farms the little ones will have fun guaranteed. The climbing forest in Neu Pudagla near Ückeritz is a highlight for sport adventurers – And when it rains, you can even climb inside. A special Usedom highlight: The Baltic Sea lift rises 25 meters above sea level. From here you have a magnificent view over Zinnowitz through the revolving dome. And it’s going to be wild with one of the numerous island safaris. For those who love nature: Welcome to Usedom!
Day 3: White Coasts
The most famous Baltic Sea Island in Germany is Rügen. Once in a lifetime everyone should have walked or cycled along the wonderful white chalk coasts. But that’s not all, because Rügen is also a paradise for adventurous: From sailing, surfing, and kitesurfing to paddling, diving and wakeboarding – Water sport enthusiasts will get their money worth at this wonderful place. If you are travelling with children, make a detour to the Waldseilpark Rügen or take the “Rasender Roland” – an old steam locomotive – across the island. You can even toboggan here in winter but also summer!
Day 4: Swim Mermaids and Surfers
The biggest highlight of the Baltic Sea is of course one thing: The Sea itself. If you’ve had enough of sports, it’s best to treat yourself an extensive day on one of the many wonderful beaches.
