3 Easy Camping Recipes with Ranch You’ll Want to Make Again

Simple, filling camping recipes that make the most out of tortillas, bacon, and a bit of ranch.
With European tourists flooding across American cities this summer, social media has been full of videos showing visitors trying American foods for the first time. It’s kind of endearing watching Europeans collectively fall in love with our dishes, but one condiment has clearly stolen the show: ranch dressing.
So much so that even the TSA warned travellers not to bring full bottles of ranch through airport security, saving them from the heartbreak of having to throw it away before boarding.
Watching the ranch craze spread across social media made me realise how uniquely American it is, and how much I’ve been taking it for granted. So, in honour of ranch finally getting the international attention it deserves, I put together three easy camping recipes that make the most of this American classic.
These camping food ideas are simple, filling, use overlapping ingredients, and work just as well on a camp stove as they do at home.
Camping Recipes Overview: Quick & Easy Camping Food Ideas
Since these recipes share so many ingredients and adapt easily between home and the campsite, it helps to see them side by side before you pack. This table breaks down each one by meal, prep time, and make-ahead potential, so you can decide what to tackle at home and what to save for the campsite.
| Recipe | Meal | Prep Time | Make Ahead |

| Breakfast Bacon Ranch Burrito | Breakfast | 20 min | Yes |

| One-Pan Ranch Chicken, Potatoes & Corn | Dinner | 30 min | Partial |
EASY RANCH BREAKFAST CAMPING RECIPE
Breakfast Bacon Ranch Burrito
Breakfast Bacon Ranch Burrito
When camping, I’m a huge fan of anything you can wrap. Burritos are portable, easy to eat without utensils, and create very little washing up afterwards. They’re one of my favourite easy camping recipes because everything cooks in one pan and they’re just as good reheated the next morning.
Ingredients
- Medium-sized flour tortillas (8–10 inch)
- 10 eggs
- 10 slices bacon
- 2 cups shredded cheddar
- Ranch dressing
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Cook the bacon until crispy. Set most of it aside, leaving a little bacon fat in the pan.
- Crack the eggs into the same pan, season with salt and pepper, and scramble over medium-low heat. Avoid overcooking them.
- Stir the cheese into the warm eggs until melted.
- Warm the tortillas for 10–15 seconds so they’re easier to roll.
- Fill each tortilla with eggs, bacon, and a drizzle of ranch dressing.
- Fold the sides in and roll tightly.
Tips
- Makes about five burritos.
- Plan on roughly two eggs and two slices of bacon per burrito.
- Skip adding milk to the eggs to keep the tortillas from becoming soggy.
- These can easily be made ahead for breakfast the next morning.
EASY RANCH LUNCH CAMPING RECIPE
Turkey Bacon Ranch Wrap
Turkey Bacon Ranch Wrap
If you’re looking for lighter camping meal ideas, this wrap is a great option. It still feels filling thanks to the bacon and avocado, but it’s fresher than the breakfast burrito and comes together in just a few minutes.
Since you’re already bringing tortillas and bacon for breakfast, it’s an easy way to turn the same ingredients into an entirely different meal.
Ingredients
- Medium-sized flour tortillas
- Deli turkey (about 2 slices per wrap)
- 10 slices bacon, cooked until crispy (about 2 slices per wrap)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1 cup diced cucumber
- Halved cherry tomatoes (or 1 large tomato, chopped)
- Ranch dressing
- Black pepper
Instructions
- Cook the bacon until crispy and allow it to cool slightly.
- Warm the tortillas for 10–15 seconds. If you’d like, sprinkle on some cheese while warming so it melts slightly.
- Spread a thin layer of ranch dressing over each tortilla.
- Add the turkey, cheese, bacon, avocado, cucumber, and tomatoes.
- Finish with freshly ground black pepper.
- Fold in the sides, roll tightly, and slice in half if desired.
Notes
- Add the tomatoes and ranch just before serving if you’re making these ahead of time.
- Rotisserie chicken works well if you want a slightly heartier wrap.
EASY RANCH DINNER CAMPING RECIPE
One-Pan Ranch Chicken, Potatoes & Corn
One-Pan Ranch Chicken, Potatoes & Corn
If you’re craving something warm but want a break from tortillas, this is one of those fun camping meals that requires very little effort. Everything cooks in a single pan, making cleanup easy at the campsite.
Ingredients
- 2 chicken breasts (or chicken thighs)
- Baby potatoes, halved
- 1 cup corn
- Ranch seasoning (or ranch dressing)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- Splash of broth or water
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Heat a little oil in a large pan and brown the chicken on both sides. It doesn’t need to be fully cooked yet.
- Add the potatoes and a splash of broth or water. Cover and cook until the potatoes become tender, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the corn and ranch seasoning (or a spoonful of ranch dressing).
- Sprinkle the cheddar over the top, cover again, and cook until the cheese has melted and the chicken is fully cooked.
Notes
- If you’re using ranch seasoning, add a little extra liquid so everything coats evenly.
- Chicken thighs add even more flavour if you don’t mind a richer meal.
Easy Camping Recipes for Your Next Trip
These three easy camping recipes aren’t fancy, but that’s exactly why they work so well. They share many of the same ingredients, require minimal equipment, and make cooking at the campsite much simpler.
Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or putting together your camping food list for a longer road trip, these ranch-inspired meals are easy to prepare, satisfying after a day outdoors, and guaranteed to please anyone who already loves ranch—or is about to discover it.
And if you’re one of the many Europeans discovering ranch for the first time, here’s one final tip: instead of trying to bring bottles home, pack a few ranch seasoning packets. They take up almost no space, won’t be confiscated at airport security, and all you need to do is mix them with sour cream once you’re back home.
Camping Food FAQs for Your Next Trip
Yes, all three recipes are great for prepping in advance. The breakfast burritos can be fully assembled and wrapped the night before, then reheated at the campsite. The wrap ingredients can be prepped separately and assembled quickly once you arrive. For the chicken, potatoes, and corn dish, you can chop the potatoes and season the chicken ahead of time, then just cook everything in one pan when you’re ready to eat.
Yes, you’ll need cold storage for the eggs, bacon, cheese, chicken, and any fresh produce like avocado, cucumber, and tomatoes. A good cooler with ice packs will keep everything safe for a day or two. If you’re car camping with access to a cooler, you’re set; for backpacking trips, you may want to swap in shelf-stable substitutes.
In most cases, yes. Ranch seasoning works well in the one-pan chicken dish since it’s mixed into the cooking liquid. For the burrito and wrap, where ranch is used as a drizzle or spread, you’ll want to mix the seasoning packet with a bit of sour cream or mayo first to recreate that creamy dressing consistency.
The turkey bacon ranch wrap is your best bet since it requires no cooking at all once the bacon is prepared (which you could even cook at home beforehand). For the burrito and one-pan chicken dish, a portable camp stove or grill grate over a fire works well as a substitute for a traditional stovetop.
For the breakfast burrito, simply skip the bacon or swap in a plant-based bacon alternative. The turkey wrap can be made with extra avocado, cheese, and veggies in place of the turkey and bacon. The one-pan dish is trickier since chicken is central to the recipe, but you could substitute hearty vegetables like mushrooms or chickpeas and adjust the cooking time acco
