A few tips for the city traffic in Paris from roadsurfer
The city highway called “le périph” by Parisians, leads around the center of the town with up to five lanes to enter. The Périph is deviating from other highways, which is information that might be necessary. It can avoid traffic jams, because you will bypass the busy roads along the banks of the river. Keep your eyes open for the signs in the city “BP extérieur”, which means the outward direction of the city highway and which runs clockwise around Paris. Do not get confused though, because “BP intérieur” on the other hand means the inner direction of the city highway (I.e. counterclockwise).

By the way, the roundabout called “Place de l’Étoile” is on the right before you turn to the left, due to the 12 star-shaped streets leading into it. Small anecdote, which is often told in Paris by driving students on their way: Car insurances have created a special rule for accidents due to the rush hour and the situation at this intersection: ever accident is considered as the fault of all the involved drivers.
