Discover Gaudí’s Barcelona
Gaudí is the genius behind many architectural gems, such as Casa Milà or Casa Batló, the magical house with a façade reminiscent of Venetian masks. We also owe Park Güell to Gaudi – a park embedded in nature with a network of paths, viaducts, pillars and bridges adorned with sparkling ceramic fragments. Although it is a tourist hotspot, it is worth allowing sufficient time to discover all the details of this magical park. Gaudí then built the Sagrada Família. The landmark of Barcelona which guarantees an experience that you will never forget. The impressive facade and light spectacle inside the basilica are fascinating and will take your breath away. roadsurfer tip: A must-see and a romantic end to an exciting day in Barcelona is the Font Màgica. This is Barcelona’s biggest fountain at Plaza España. Its magic can be experienced in the evenings at a spectacular fountain show with lights and music.

In Barcelona, there are plenty of places for the little ones to explore. A trip to the interactive science museum Cosmo Caixa is a great way to begin. Here, you can discover the ecosystem of an underwater forest, see key scientific theories brought to life, and much more. The Barcelona Aquarium is home to over 450 different species. There is also an 80-metre long underwater tunnel where you can gain impressive insights into the underwater world. For all chocolate fans, look no further than the Museu de la Xocolata. Here, you not only get to look at chocolate but you can also paint with it and, not too surprisingly, eat it.
Hire a camper: traffic in Barcelona
Parking is available throughout the city centre. For example on Passeig de Gràcia, Plaça Catalunya, Carrer de Roger de Llúria and Gran Via. These car parks do however tend to be relatively full. The B:SM car parks (Barcelona de Serveis Municipals) tend to be very modern and well equipped. It is perhaps easier to hire your camper and leave it parked up at your campsite and then travel into Barcelona city centre by public transport.

As you head down the coast southwards to Valencia you should definitely schedule a stop at Tarragona! The harbour city dates back to Roman times. The highlights in Tarragona are the amphitheatre from the 2nd century, which stands directly on the Mediterranean Sea or the Roman tombs, called Necropolis. Then it’s on to the picturesque city of Reus. It is located 10 kilometres inland from the Costa Dorada. If you are travelling with little ones, you could plan a detour to the Port Aventura theme park. Then continue to Valencia. The city is a mix of futuristic buildings called Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) and the ancient Roman forum. Kids in particular will love the city, as there are all sorts of fun things to do, such as the planetarium, the Oceanarium and an interactive museum.
