Camper Van & RV Rental in Florence

The best time to rent a camper van or RV in Florence is during the low season when there are fewer tourists, especially from March to June, as well as from September to October. During these months, temperatures range from a pleasant 59°F to 74°F in March to May, and 71°F to 83°F in June, September, and October. Please note that during Easter and in August, the city can be very crowded and the waiting time for sightseeing is longer than at other times of the year.

We highly recommend the Festa della Rificolona, a beautiful lantern festival that you can view in the Piazza della S Annunziata, which takes place in September. You can also check out the Biennale Mostra Mercato Internazionale dell’Antiquariato, a large international antiques fair held in Palazzo Corsino sull’Arno, which takes place every odd-numbered year in October.

When you rent a camper van or RV in Florence, you’ll need to fill up your fresh water tank at the start of your trip and empty any grey water before returning it. Fresh water can be found at RV service areas (see list below), gas stations, and campgrounds, or you can buy large bottles of water from grocery stores. Black water can be disposed of at larger campgrounds, or the service areas listed below.

As with many European cities, it’s best to avoid parking in the center of Florence. Parking spots are few and small, and Florence has a ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) meaning you’ll be fined for driving in without specific permission – look out for the well-marked ZTL signs. We recommend parking at a train station on the outskirts of town and using public transportation to explore Florence. If you must park in the city, the underground parking lot at Porta a Prato station (Via Elio Gabbuggiani, 7, 50144 Firenze) will fit camper vans under 6.5 feet tall for a price of around 20 euros per 10 hours.
