There are a few things that you should consider before renting your camper van if you are a Swiss national. When you rent a vehicle from outside the EU, you have to register at the border (customs office) upon entering Switzerland. The customs office will issue a document, which allows you to use the vehicle (not registered in Switzerland) for 8 days within Switzerland. The starting date is the first day of the rental. If the vehicle is first used in a different country, these days will be deducted from the amount. Regardless of the 8 day rule/regulation, you are allowed to use you RV for 3 days in Switzerland, not including the day of the border crossing.
