When you hire a campervan in Dublin you can be on the road right away, trusting that your roadsurfer home on wheels is fully stocked. Your campervan comes with an awning, camping table and two chairs to enjoy the space outside of your vehicle. The kitchen box allows you to save money on eating out: you’ve got all the pots, pans, and utensils to cook up your own meals. There’s even a corkscrew and bottle opener, and a coffee pot plus mugs for your morning coffee or tea, although you’ll want to bring dish towels, sponges, and eco-friendly dish soap. Ireland’s weather is famously unpredictable, but the best time to rent a campervan in Dublin is undoubtedly between May and September. During this period, the city basks in mild temperatures and longer daylight hours. Dubliners also celebrate various events like the Bloomsday Festival in June and the Dublin Theatre Festival in September, which will add a cultural twist to your adventure. Of course, a visit in March might be necessary if you want to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day festivities – a must-do for anyone keen for a craic (Gaelic term to describe a good time). Parking in Dublin is a love/hate affair, but rest assured you can still find great spots if you know where to look. In terms of free parking, most spots are limited to the suburbs. This means that while you can park your campervan for free, you’ll still need to catch public transport to get into the city centre.

• Connolly Station Car Park – An open air carpark close to the city centre. It’s amongst the cheapest in the city and ideal for motorhomes given there are no height restrictions.
• Red Cow Luas Stop – Located just off the M50 orbital motorway in the western suburbs, this stop doesn’t have height restrictions but you’ll need to jump on a tram to reach the city (approx. 25 minutes).
• Sandymount Strand – There are multiple beachside parking options along Sandymount Strand promenade. You’re also within walking distance to Sandymount train station, which can take you to the city centre in 25 minutes.

Hire a campervan in Dublin and exploring the city is fun, don’t get us wrong, but hitting the road and experiencing Ireland’s countryside is something else. And camping near Dublin is an excellent way to do just that. The beautiful Loughshinny Beach is about an hour north of Dublin and great for anyone looking to sample the country’s maritime culture. You could also head 25 minutes east of the city and set up camp at the mythical Boyne Valley – Ireland’s ancient capital. If you’re after a more rugged experience, head further south still to the Wicklow Mountains National Park, just over an hour’s drive from Dublin. Here you’ll find campsites surrounded by lush greenery that are perfect for hiking and exploring the Irish wilderness.
