But where is the best place to spend the night and what can you do where? Here are our tips for your camping trip to the North Sea.

The most beautiful North Sea campsites

Do you want to spend a few days relaxing on the North Sea? That’s a brilliant idea. So that you and your camping bus don’t lose your good mood on the first day, we have selected three out of the coolest camping sites on the North Sea for you. A camping holiday is really fun here:

Free sea view

The “Seeblick campsite” in Schobüll, Husum is the only place at the North Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein with an unobstructed view to the sea - There is no dike between you and the horizon. Here you can literally grab the silence - Perfect to get out of everyday life completely. Besides, you can enjoy the fresh, earthy air in the nearby forest or feel the salty sand between your toes on a Wadden Sea excursion. Your holiday can start here!

Enjoy it privately

This North Sea campsite on the sandy beach of Büsum offers real relaxation. The campsite "Zur Perle" not only lends beach chairs but even has its own lagoon right in front. Here you can swim independently of the tides at any time of the day. No matter if you want to relax with your family or get away from all while surfing - Here you can enjoy your holiday in private.

Recreation close to the city

You want to be able to plunge into the city bustle at any time but equally enjoy the peace and quiet of beach camping? Then you'll certainly find your luck at the Wattenlöper campsite, just five kilometers from Cuxhaven. The campsite has its own sauna and a beer garden for a little extra relaxation - If this gets too monotonous, the city center of Cuxhaven is not far away. From here you can plan more cool trips!

Your North Sea camping weekend can look like this

“Moin, moin”, they say in the north and not only in the early hours. But this doesn’t mean that the North Sea coast is home to sleeping caps. Between some strange-looking traditions such as broom throwing and “boßeln”, Borkum, Norderney, Sylt and co. offer a wide range of activities, including cycling, surfing and sailing. Those who first want to get an overview of the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea before putting their toes into the grey mud, can take a scenic flight over it. For this, there are different providers at various places. If you want to get started right away, explore the North Sea coast in four days with our tips.

Day 1: Action in St. Peter Ording

St. Peter Ording is a perfect place for families as well as for young globetrotters. Here everything revolves around water sports – from SUP to windsurfing and kiting. In addition, a special highlight for the little camping friends is the seal enclosure in the West Coast Park. Next to a small seal show, the cute button eyes are also fed in public twice a day.

Day 2: Live like a star

Anyone who wants to join the ranks of stars and starlets should not miss a trip to Sylt – Here, the Who-is-Who of the celebrity world meets between champagne corks and sea breezes. With 850,000 guests a year, you can also party hard: During the day, you can relax with algae wellness treatments and have a professional chat with golf, tennis or horseback riding. At night you can go to the hottest beach parties or exclusive sport events. Indeed, on Sylt you can live and sip one or two oysters. By the way, an absolute must is a walk over the Whiskey mile and a visit of the cult restaurant in the dunes – The Sansibar.

Day 3: The “most beautiful heap of sand in the world”

Pardon? Well, the “most beautiful heap of sand” – That’s how the inhabitants call Borkum, the largest East Frisian island in the middle of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park. Here, everything revolves around fun in the sand – Whether sailing on the beach, driving a beach buggy or playing beach volleyball. In summer, you’ll see over 800 teams playing ball games on the beach. Seals can also be seen on Borkum, for example on the High Reef seal bank. Last but not least, romantic sea lovers can enjoy the best sunsets next to the music pavilion on the north beach.

Day 4: Digging and climbing

The second largest East Frisian Island is sandy as well: With its white sandy beaches, Norderney is a paradise for water birds and migratory birds on their travels. Patient observers definitely get their money’s worth here. All the others will appreciate almost Caribbean beaches – And not only the little ones like bathing and digging at the beach. The most famous landmarks of the “city by the sea” are Norderneys windmills and the brick-red lighthouse. Whoever looks for an alternation to the beach, you can let off steam on the free indoor and outdoor play park Cape Horn – It’s fun for kids and relaxation for adults.
